CableCuff PRO Redesign

A reverse-engineering redesign of the CableCuff PRO, a reusable tool for organizing cords, cables, ropes, and hoses. The project documented and measured the existing product, reduced material in the base, improved the holding hook, and evaluated the component’s likely failure region.
Product Study
Analyzed the CableCuff PRO, a reusable cable-management device with adjustable latching teeth, a hanging loop, an ergonomic holding hook, and a flexible release feature.
Redesign
Modified the black base with a shorter solid section to reduce material and potential cost. The holding hook was also revised to improve pulling strength and comfort during use.
Analysis
Applied loading at the top of the curved tooth region, where prior use suggested the part was most prone to cracking or snapping. The updated material selection produced a modest factor-of-safety improvement.
Validation
Compared measured and modeled mass properties using water displacement and scale measurements. The theoretical volume was 1.28 cubic inches versus an observed 1.30 cubic inches, a 1.54% difference.
